Important Notice

Purpose of Aftercare
Appropriate aftercare following SkinPen® microneedling supports skin recovery, maintains barrier function, and reduces the risk of irritation, infection, or pigment changes. Recovery time will vary depending on treatment depth and individual skin response. Always follow the personalised advice provided by your practitioner.
Immediately After Treatment
Redness, warmth, tightness, or mild swelling is common
Do not touch, rub, or pick at the treated skin
Apply only the post-treatment products recommended by your practitioner
Keep the skin clean and hydrated
Avoid for the First 24 Hours
Exercise or activities that cause overheating
Bathing or showering over the treated area
Makeup application
Sunscreen or skincare products unless specifically advised
Avoid for the First 72 Hours
Chemical sunscreen
Active skincare products not recommended by your practitioner
Avoid for 5–10 Days
Exfoliating products (scrubs, AHAs, BHAs, vitamin A/retinoids)
Prescription topical retinoids
Home microneedling devices
Anti-wrinkle injections
Direct sun exposure to the treated area
Any skincare products not recommended by your practitioner
Avoid for 2 Weeks
Waxing, bleaching, depilatory creams, or electrolysis in treated areas
IPL or laser hair removal
IPL or laser skin rejuvenation
Facial treatments of any kind, including peels or resurfacing treatments
Microdermabrasion or epidermal levelling
Dermal filler treatments
Avoid for 4 Weeks
Medium to deep chemical peels
Further SkinPen® microneedling treatments
Fractional or ablative laser resurfacing
Surgical facial procedures
Skincare Guidance
First 24 hours:
Use only the post-procedure products recommended by your practitioner
No sunscreen unless specifically instructed
Days 2–7:
Gentle, acid-free cleanser
Barrier-support products as advised
Physical sunscreen only (no chemical sunscreen)
Day 8 onwards:
Gradually reintroduce active skincare products as tolerated
General Care Advice
Do not pick or scratch the skin, as this increases the risk of infection, scarring, and pigmentation changes
Increase water intake to support hydration
Protect the treated area with hats, sunglasses, or protective clothing when outdoors
Avoid washcloths, cleansing brushes, or exfoliating tools on the treated area
When to Contact the Clinic
Please contact By the Bay Cosmetics if you experience:
Increasing redness, swelling, pain, or heat
Signs of infection
Delayed healing or unexpected skin reactions
Any concerns about your recovery
If you are unsure or feel something is not right, we would always prefer you contact the clinic for advice.
